When Chin Yew was 24, he quit his mundane-salesman job, took out all his savings and locked himself in a small room to paint 40 large paintings consecutively for 30 days, updating-daily via a blog he co-created, www.30dayartist.com. Every month since, a new artist from around the world, partakes the same challenge he had first taken on August 2005, which gained him some media recognition, publication of his picture book; ‘The Boy Who Loved Clouds’, a solo exhibition and a developing 600+pages graphic novel, ‘I See So Many Butterflies’. When not doing art annually on Augusts at 30dayartist, he writes and directs TV shows. His ultimate dream is to direct at least one personal-auteur 35mm feature before he dies and to be the first Malaysian to win Best Foreign Picture at the Oscars. He believes his highly good-sensitive, unique-vision of taste and emotion in storytelling, is bringing the trophy home.
